BARENA
"Barena Venezia," a small family-owned brand founded in 1961 as a textile company. Their expertise in traditional textiles is rooted in original patterns and stitches found in the lagoon area of Venice and its surrounding old wool factories. This has remained the primary source of inspiration for the ongoing Barena collections. In 1993, Massimo Pigozzo joined as the Creative Director, formally establishing "Barena Venezia." The name "Barena" is derived from the Italian word "baro," meaning "emerging land" (referring to Venice), and the brand's logo depicts a flat-bottomed boat called the "Sanpierotta," traditionally used for hunting and fishing. In 2010, Francesca Zara, Sandro's daughter, became the Women's Creative Director, and the women's collection was also introduced.
