Why are you here.....? Kyoto, a new concept store of Why are you here.....?, will grand open on Saturday, August 8, after a pre-opening period that began on June 6.

The stage for our new store, Fuyacho-dori, is an area dotted with galleries, lifestyle shops, and long-established stores amidst the quiet, Kyoto-esque cityscape. Blending into this scenery, "Why are you here.....? Kyoto" is born as a hub that proposes new perspectives and encounters with culture through fashion.

Since its establishment in 2000, "Why are you here.....?" has, with its unique perspective, selected brands that resonate with its philosophy and craftsmanship, from luxury maisons to independent designers, regardless of genre, era, or fame.

At the Kyoto store, we will further develop this philosophy, transcending modes, designers, luxury, street, and classic styles, to propose a unique selection that will bring new discoveries even to those who have been involved in fashion for many years. The store will feature carefully selected domestic and international brands including THE ROW, VUJA DÉ, Enfants Riches Déprimés, and OMAR AFRIDI. Our lineup will be structured around the philosophy and aesthetic sense of each brand, rather than trends or genres.

On the opening day, we will hold an opening reception where you can experience the world of "Why are you here…..? Kyoto". VUJA DÉ designer Ken Iijima will be present, and the 2026 Autumn / Winter Drop 1 will be exclusively launched for two days. In conjunction, limited edition bags and belts exclusive to the Kyoto store will be available for purchase. For bags, we will offer a special model that updates the popular "IRA BAG IN LEATHER" to a Kyoto store exclusive specification.

In addition, there will be matcha tasting and sales by KOMĀ, a matcha brand that uses 100% organic tea leaves grown in a famous garden with a history of about 270 years in Uji, Kyoto. Also, there will be an exhibition and sale of matcha bowls and tea utensils by ceramic artists such as Gaku Nakane, Eimei Go, En'ya Nukaga, and Tsutomu Takeshita, as well as an installation using fresh flowers. Through tea, crafts, and spatial design, we will create a space where you can experience the unique Japanese aesthetic.

To commemorate the opening, customers who make a purchase will receive a limited edition original T-shirt or tote bag.
