      Y's for men

      Y's, launched by Yohji Yamamoto in 1972, represents his philosophy and ideology towards clothing. Its origin lies in creating garments for independent women with values that are not swayed by the trends of the time, under the concept of women wearing men's clothing. Y's offers functional and dignified everyday wear, emphasizing universal values, unique pattern-making, cutting, and silhouette. It values the texture of materials and the interplay between the wearer's body and the garment, including the sense of air, volume, and balance. After Yohji Yamamoto stepped away from designing for Y's, the atelier team continues to propose high-quality ready-to-wear collections that express the brand's identity. "Y's for men," which started in 1979, was the first men's brand created by Yohji Yamamoto. Under the concept of creating clothing that complements women wearing Y's, the collection reflected designs from Yohji Yamamoto's personal wardrobe. However, the brand went on hiatus from the 2010SS season. It will be relaunched after 13 years as a new men's line starting from the 2023AW season.
